Olga Stavropoulou [Managing Director, Militos Emerging Technologies & Services]

Olga was born in Athens in 1971. She graduated from the Arsakio High school in 1989, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Sociology [Honours] at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. In 1995, she moved to Belgium where she received her Master’s degree in International Politics [Honours - Thesis: "Multilingualism in Europe's Information Society"] from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. With the completion of her graduate studies, she remained in Brussels where she worked as a stagiaire at the European Commission [ISPO: Information Society Project Office, DGXIII].

She continued her close co-operation with the European Commission services on the implementation of various projects. She worked as European Commission liaison officer- in CEN/ISSS (Comité Européen de Normalisation – Information Society Standardisation System), as well as Project Manager for the Confederation of European Computer User Association.

In 1999 she returned to Greece and worked in the ALTEC Group of Companies. Initially, as an Operations Manager on European R&D Projects in SYSWARE S.A, and later in DATAMED S.A as Director of the International Business Development Department.

She has founded Militos back in 2000, with her partners, the company Militos, where she currently holds the position of the Managing Director. Under her management the company has been growing steadily as a successful social responsible enterprise that invests in research, knowledge and the strong belief on her partners’ skills and cooperative spirit. Not being an ‘armchair entrepreneur’, Olga is extremely active in touching bases with all kinds of audiences, strongly supporting and taking active part in conventions and colloquia, making the best out of the advantages of real human contact and the exchange of ideas, to serve as a basis in fleshing out policies, interventions and initiatives addressing indicatively the issues of women entrepreneurship, social mobility and lifelong learning. Olga has conceptualized, designed and initiated numerous projects and activities that enhance, upgrade and promote entrepreneurship with a special focus to women’s entrepreneurship, being a female entrepreneur herself.

Since 2001, she closely co-operates with the European Commission Representation in Greece, acting as the National Editor of the Standard Eurobarometer for the analysis and presentation of the Eurobarometer survey editions.

In 2003, she was engaged by the European Commission Representation in Greece for the co-ordination of activities in the frames of the Greek EU Presidency.

In 2011, Militos was selected by the EC DG Enterprise and Industry to set up and operate the National Network for Business Mentors, as the local representative of the European Network of Mentors for Women Entrepreneurs; being a Mentor of the European Network herself as well.

In 2012, she was selected as a Member of the Board of the Hellenic Association of Young Entrepreneurs in Athens, Piraeus and Province.

 

Filippos Karamanlis

Filippos is the Managing Partner as well as a member of the Board of Militos Emerging Technologies & Services. He was born in 1979 in Athens, Greece. He studied Computer Science in the Vesalius College University of Brussels, in Belgium [2003].

Currently he studies Physics and Natural Sciences in the Open University of Greece. Filippos has extended knowledge of several programming languages (C++, Java, .NET, Foxpro, Visual Basic) and all major O/S (Unix/Linux and Windows).

Besides his working experience as a freelance consultant in several computer companies, Filippos also worked for the Confederation of Computer User Association and participated as a conference planning organizer in the preparation of the European Conference entitled “Citizen in the Global Information Society” which was funded by the European Commission

 

Pavlos Aravantinos

Pavlos is a founding member and member of the Board of Militos Emerging Technologies & Services. Born in 1972, in Athens, he holds a Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering (MSc Honors – 1995, Thesis: “Foetomorphic Cardiac Ultrasound phantom”) from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff and a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering (BEng Honors – 1994) from the University of Central England (U.C.E.). The same year (1994) he participated in a student exchange programme in the School of Engineering ‘EIGSI’ in La Rochelle (France) where he undertook the study on behalf of PEUGEOT on Charge – Discharge Bench simulating electric vehicle’s Battery life cycle.

In parallel with his studies, from April to October 1992, he worked as a Network Engineer for the Installation of Telemedicine Network at the Sismanoglion Hospital in Athens, while later in 1993 he worked as a Technical Engineer in the department of Medical Equipment in SIEMENS S.A, in Greece. Between 1997 and 1999, Pavlos worked as a Research Engineer in ERGO S.A (Medical Equipment), being in charge of the European and National Programmes at the Research and Business Development Department.

He continued his professional activity in DATAMED S.A, a company of the Altec Group, as a Senior Manager responsible of European R&D Projects at the International Business Development unit. In 2000, he founded, with his partners, the company Militos Emerging Technologies & Services.

Recently he obtained, yet another degree in Architecture this time, from the Department of Architecture in the University of Thessaly.

 

 

Jens Koslowsky

Jens holds a Magister Artium (M.A.) in History and Geography from the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) and a Master of European Studies (M.E.S.) from the University of Bonn, Germany.

From 2007-2009 he was working as scientific officer at the International Bureau of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Bonn, Germany, where he was supporting the ministry in the planning and implementing of international agreements and cooperation programmes and contributing to the implementation of strategy of the Federal Government for the Internationalization of Science and Research.

In 2009 he moved to Athens, Greece and was engaged by a consultancy company (Digitalis Consult Ltd.) as Project Manager, implementing and conceptualizing European funded projects for several European programmes (INTERREG IVC/IVB, SEE Programme, FP7, Lifelong Learning, etc.).

In 2011 he joined Militos as Senior European Affairs Manager. Jens has great expertise in the implementation, design and administration of European funded projects.

Born in Athens, Greece in 1964. In 1982 he graduated from theGermanHigh SchoolofAthens. He holds a BA and Msc in Social and Cultural Anthropology from thePanteionUniversityinAthensGreece.

From 1986 until 1992 he worked as sales executive in a music industry export and import company in Athens. From 1992 until 2005 he worked for ING Greece in the insurance and financial services department.

He collaborated for five years as a research assistant with the department of Social Anthropology of Panteion University in Athens in national research programmes addressing the topics of immigration, oral history, critical criminology and cultural economics.

In the beginning of 2012 he joined Militos Emerging Technologies & Services as Knowledge Worker contributing to knowledge advancement through analytical and synthetic skills and research activities, supporting the design, development and implementation of national and EU initiatives, programmes and policies.

George was born in Athens in 1970. He graduated from the first High school of Acharnes in 1988 and received a Bachelor in Mathematics from the University of Patras, Greece in 1996.

He is a Microsoft Certified Trainer® and a trainer certified by EKEPIS, the National Centre of Certification in Continuous Vocational Training since 2009. He has more than 12.000 hours of training since 1996.

He is the Training Activities Coordinator of ITEC VET Centre since 2006. He has developed specific financial applications and management tools for company executives in the following areas: Market Research Methods, Market Analyses by Sector & Product, Databases & Statistic Tools, Business Plans, Capital & Operating Budgets, Cash Flows & Forecasts, Profit & Loss Analyses and Future Projections, Price/Stock Lists & Product Catalogs Presentations, Automated Reports Generators. He has delivered training and consulting services to more than 200 companies.

He was the Project Manager of ITEC VET Centre for the submission, coordination and implementation of European co-funded projects. In September 2011, he joined Militos Emerging Technologies as a Senior Project Manager in charge of the management and implementation of complex projects.

 

Magda Karamanoglou

Magda was born in Piraeus, Greece in 1982. She graduated from the 3rd Egaleo High School in 1999 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Faculty of Humanities in Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cyprus in 2005.

She holds a Master Degree in European and International Studies from the European Studies Institute of University Paris VIII.

In 2007, she worked as a stagiaire at the Maison de l’ Europe de Paris where she was involved in the organization of European and International conferences with mainly duties their promotion and the communication with the public, French NGOs as well with European and International Institutions. She also assisted the Europe Direct office of the organization.

In 2007-2008, she continued working in Paris for the European Students Association AEGEE as responsible of European Youth Projects. More specifically she represented the association as liaison officer – in UNESCO CPMJ (Commission Programmatique Mixte de la Jeunesse) and she was in charge of European youth exchange projects, the coordination of European events for students and responsible for Europe’s day organized in cooperation with the Cityhall of Paris, European Commission and Parliament representations.

Later on, she returned to Greece and worked at the European Parliament’s Information Office in Athens (EPIO Greece – DG COMM). Her duties were the assistance to the overall administration of the office and especially the work of the Press Office (i.e. press releases, translations, events). She assisted also the EUROSCOLA activities of the office by providing support in the research and analysis of the EU role and policies in order to present the EU history, institutions and fields of actions during organized meetings in Greek schools with the students.

In 2010, she joined Militos Emerging Technologies and Services as European Affairs Officer where she is in charge of the implementation (i.e. dissemination, sustainability, exploitation) of European Commission co-funded projects as well as the organization of the EC Representation in Greece awareness events.

Magda has a profound experience in the field of organization of European events and conferences as well as a great capacity to communicate and work in multicultural environments. She speaks fluently Greek, English and French and she has a very good command of Polish and Turkish.

Elisavet was born in Athens, Greece in 1983. She graduated from the 4th New Heraklion High school in 2001 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the European French Grand Ecole of E.S.C.E.M [Ecole Superieure de Commerce et de Management].

In 2007, she obtained the degree of Accountant, from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus [Department of Management and Economy].

Between 2005-2006, she followed courses in Journalism at the Academy of Studies and Communication in Athens, while she was completing her placement in the TV channel “Tileasty” as an internal and external journalist [Summer 2006];

she also worked at the University at the accounting department for students’ affairs, dealing with new entrants in the University records, organised graduation ceremonies, preparing transcripts for graduates, etc [September 2006 - March 2007]; Later on, she joined an accounting office in Athens and continued working as an assistant accountant [2007 - 2008].

Upon her undergraduate studies completion she went to the United Kingdom to pursue her Master of Science degree in Management [Enterprise and Local Economic Development] from the Management School of the University of Sheffield [2010].

Later on, she was selected to participate in the European project for the encouragement of women entrepreneurship [women@business] and began her internship at Militos Emerging Technologies & Services, where she now works as a EU Programme Officer for the implementation and the coordination of EU co-funded projects as well as complex actions publicity.

 

Stathis Georgakopoulos

Stathis was born in 1989 in Athens. In 2007, he graduated from the 3rd High School of Alimos, to continue his studies in the Mathematics Department of National & Kapodestrian University of Athens and, at the same time, in the Hellenic American University from where he gained a scholarship.

In 2011, he received his first degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance, and he continues his studies in the Mathematics department. As a student, he has worked as an administrative assistance and in the area of sales.

Throughout his studies, he assisted the Hellenic American University in its projects and he always served as a member of the Student Council of Hellenic American University and in 2010 he was elected to be the Secretary.

Since the beginning of 2012, he is the youngest member of the Militos Team undertaking the implementation of EU co-funded projects as well as supporting directly the General Management.

Spiros was born in Athens in 1982 and studied Business Administration at the University of the Aegean. Since serving his military duty and after changing jobs he entered the interactive marketing and social media world by working for Think Digital, one of the widest networks of Internet Media in South East Europe.

He worked as Project Manager and business developer for Sportdog.gr and other websites in Greece and proceeded in founding the leading user generated reviewing website for restaurants in Greece, www.ask4food.gr.

He has a share at the streaming media portal www.SocialTV.gr and has developed and run a sports prediction game for the country’s leading sports news portal, Contra.gr.

He also works as a freelance IT analyst and project Manager in the areas of web applications, game based marketing and social media engineering.

He has developed steady business and collaboration ties with Militos, mostly on the development and implementation of Digital Awareness projects.

Dimitra was born in Germany in 1968. She graduated from the Nea Halkidona High School in 1986.

In 1987, she studied dental techniques in the College of Free Studies KELESO in Athens.

In 2000 & 2004 she worked at the Organisation of Employment of the Workforce (OAED – Local Service: Agia Paraskevi) in the unemployment department, in the programme of administrative support.

Subsequently, from 2004-2007 she worked in Cyprus (Nicosia), as the head of the organization and support of a retail clothing shop. Finally, in 2008 she was employed at the Land Registry of Public Power Corporation SA (DEH).

From February 2009 she is working at Militos Emerging Technologies & Services in charge of the Corporate Secretariat.

Eleanna was born in Athens in 1970. She graduated from the Arsakeio Private High School of Athens in 1988 and until 1989 followed the English language courses at Boston University.

From 1990 to 1992 she followed the Marketing and Management Course at Athens Southeastern College. From 1992 to 1994 she attended the Computer training courses in Programmers-Analysts offered by Computer Mind S.A. and Anodos.

For numerous years (1992-2003) she was employed as Secretariat Support in companies with international activities.

Since March 2004 she works at Militos Emerging Technologies & Services as Administrative assistant and she also participates in co-funded projects, supporting the implementation of complex activities in the framework of international partnerships.
